Exotic’s Motion & Control Group Recognized for Industrial Materials – Fluid Power

Farmington Hills, MI – June 22, 2012 – Exotic Automation & Supply, a leading manufacturer and distributor of automation systems, components, and material handling solutions, has received one of Ford Motor Company’s prestigious 2011 World Excellence Silver Awards.

The awards were presented on May 31, 2012 at the 14th annual event held at Ford World Headquarters to suppliers who demonstrate superior quality, delivery, and cost performance. Exotic Automation & Supply was one of only two non-production suppliers to receive the 2011 World Excellence Silver Award out of an international supplier network comprised of over 1,600 corporations.

Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally thanked all of Ford’s supplier partners for their commitment to excellence and for continuing to embrace the ONE Ford mindset. “Our suppliers play a critical role in Ford’s growth around the world,” Mulally said. “We are so grateful for their work to serve our global customers with a full family of cars, utilities, and trucks offering the very best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value.”

Exotic Automation & Supply opened for business in 1963 in Michigan as Exotic Rubber & Plastics. The company’s reputation as a provider of superior material handling solutions led the company to begin providing engineering, systems, and components for automation in 1972.

“This award is the direct result of the hard work of our employees, the products we offer, and our dedication to meet the needs of our customers. I know I speak for everyone when I say it is an honor to work with Ford Motor Company.” said Tom Marino, President of Exotic Automation & Supply.

Key criteria for Ford’s World Excellence Award are outstanding quality, on-time delivery, innovative and sustainable solutions, cost competitiveness, corporate responsibility, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and overall business relationships.

“Suppliers are a critical part of our success, and a driving force for continued growth at Ford Motor Company,” said Tony Brown, group vice president, Global Purchasing. “In 2011, our suppliers stepped up to the challenge of building vehicles that improve commonality and efficiency in more ways than ever before, and we are grateful for their unwavering commitment.”

“When you’re working with a legend like Ford Motor Company and understand the depth of the transformation they’ve experienced in just five short years, it’s amazing. Working within the ONE Ford culture and receiving Ford’s World Excellence Award is a great experience,” said Steven Orlando, Exotic Automation & Supply’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“We’re looking forward to expanding Exotic’s relationship with Ford Motor Company for many years to come.”
